"Breakthrough" Movie - Executive Producer Sam Rodriguez

We had the honor of interviewing Reverend Dr. Samuel Rodriguez for the show! The executive producer for the newest movie "Breakthrough", he shares how he came to hear about the incredible story of John and Joyce Smith and was told not to "shortchange" the miraculous miracle that occurred! He also speaks encouragement to pastors today and how the role of pastor is vital to a family during a tragic time. 

BREAKTHROUGH is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction.

He has been named one of America’s leading Christian and Latino voices and as the leader of the Latino Evangelical movement by many prestigious outlets. He worked with and advised Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. Among many other awards, he received the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award presented by the Congress of Racial Equality. An award-winning author, he regularly contributes to well-known national publications. His most recent book is When Faith Catches Fire: Embracing the Spiritual Passion of the Latino Reformation, co-authored with Dr. Robert Crosby. Pastor Sam has served as executive producer of two films in partnership with Franklin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, and is co-founder and lead pastor of TBN Salsa, an international Christian-based broadcast television network.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, a Master’s Degree in History, and a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling. Shane is also a traveling communicator, evangelist, and Bible teacher. Every year he speaks to tens of thousands about the good news of Jesus Christ. 

“Here I Am, Lord. Put Me Back Together.”

Our response to our sin is not God’s response.  When we know we have sinned, we often turn from God because of our guilt when He is actively looking for us, just like He showed up for His walk with Adam and Eve right after they sinned against Him in the Garden of Eden.  Nothing you can do can stop God from desiring community and a relationship with you. Even in our sins He is saying “Where are you?”. Grab the word of God, pray, listen to worship and say “Here I am, Lord. Put me back together.”

Strike the Ground with that Arrow

How hard are you trying?  Really? In today’s culture, we give a little bit of ourselves to many things, but Autumn encourage you to give 1000% of your effort to the area of your life that needs addressing!  In II Kings, Elisha gave Joash the opportunity to defeat Aram by striking the ground with arrows, but he only struck three times instead of the multiple times he COULD have. On the other side of you working really hard on that one thing lies a great marriage, financial freedom, or the call of God on your life.  I encourage you today to strike that ground as many times as you can with that arrow. Be diligent, work hard, and see what God will do.

How's That Worry Working For You?

Many of you are wearing your worry today; you are weighed down with cares that you haven’t surrendered. YOU are carrying them even though God says He wants to take them from you.  Learn a lesson in surrendering worry from Martha’s encounter with Jesus in Luke because how often you surrender the “small” occurrences in life will dictate how well you surrender the “big” ones.

Burn the Oxen and the Net

In a world full of options, God is looking for people who are going obey what he says no matter the cost.  Don’t leave your options open when God has given you a clear command. Elisha was summoned by Elijah to be his prophetic successor, so Elisha left his oxen and plow in the field to immediately obey God’s call.  What do you need to completely abandon to do the same? Burn that plow, cut up the safety net, resign from that job, or quit that habit out of obedience to the call of God and watch what He does with your life.

God is Active in the Awkwardness

Our comfort is killing us.  God asks us to do or say the awkward and we balk.  But, He is producing a result while you are standing there shaking like Moses did before Pharaoh. Faith is not comfortable. But don’t let the awkward make you quit; let it propel you to dig into your situation with stubborn faith. God is active when its awkward. Push past the awkwardness to the reward on the other side.

Crush Satan Right On His Head

Satan is crushing our heads, minds, future and potential with junk because he sees more potential in us than we do!!  We tiptoe around evil and Satan because he intimidates some of us- we aren’t crushing him on the head. The power of God resides inside of us through Jesus; we are MORE than conquerors. Wake up and take your life back; it is time to crush the enemy in the name of Jesus.
